I am loving Ready. Set. Write! so far :) For anyone who doesn't know, it's a summer (winter for me) writing intensive for writing/planning/revising and is hosted by Erin Funk, Jaime Morrow, Katy Upperman, Alison Miller, and Elodie Nowodazkij. Everyone sets some goals and then updates with a brief post on Mondays so we can cheer each other on and hold each other accountable.
Fun, right? Check out one of the host blogs for cool buttons and further instructions!
How I did on last week's goal: I missed one day, but still managed 2,000 words which is sooooo much better than nothing!
My goal for this week: I'm going to say four days of 500 words because I have some work drama happening this week (ALWAYS SO FUN) and I may need a night off to sit on the sofa drinking wine and watching The Longest Ride trailer on my laptop.
Because that's just how I roll when the going gets tough.
A favorite line from my story OR a word or word/phrase that sums up what I wrote/revised:
I've been skipping around, playing with scenes I have in my head and getting to know the voices. Will these scenes ever actually fit together? I'm going to channel my inner Han Solo and say YES.
The biggest challenge I faced this week: Real life was super distracting this week. What's up with that? Don't these people know I've got s*** to do?
Something I love about my WIP: The kissing.
How was your week?

Hear me baby? Hold together.

How was your week?
Oooh, kissing! Is there any chocolate in your WiP, too? If so, I'm in love! ;) Sorry about the work drama, I'll probably be right there w/you, as our assistant manager is on vacation, and we're already short-staffed. But then next week, I'm on vacation, so woo!! Sorry, got off track there. =) Best of luck this week!
ReplyDeleteHan Solo FTW! Also, yay for kissing! And 2000 words is AWESOME. You're doing great!
ReplyDeleteHope the work drama is not so... dramatic and that you have a wonderful writing week!
2,000 words is brilliant! It's great to see you planning around work drama too, though I hope it's much less dramatic for you. And real life waits in the corners for the absolute worst time to pounce, doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your goals this week, and hopefully you'll get to enjoy your night on the sofa with wine whether there's drama or not--it's always nice to be able to relax, right? :)
I'm writing this comment right next to an adorable pic of your puppy Zeus--so fluffy! 2,000 words is a lot in the midst of work stress--hope this week goes much smoother for you :).
ReplyDelete2,000 words was my goal (which I didn't make!) so I think that's super awesome! Especially when life is being stupid and making you do things other than writing. Get it together, life. Right? Hope this week is easier and you can get back to working on some kissy scenes! :)
ReplyDeleteReal life was super distracting around here too. SUPER distracting. Good job getting those 2000 words down even with the distraction! Good luck with this week's goals. :-)
ReplyDeleteYou made my day posting a pic of Han Solo! 500 words a day sounds reasonable. I hope you make it!
ReplyDeleteUgh, I'm with you on the real life thing. Mine was being pesky too. Hang in there!
ReplyDeleteI like your solution for dealing with real life. Needs a bit more chocolate, but... the wine and the relaxation on the couch. Yes.
ReplyDeleteAnd the kissing... hmm, that's a fun part for any book. all the better when it's your own.
Real life was lame for me last week, too :/ But thanks for posting Han Solo to make it all better :D
ReplyDeleteGood luck on your goal this week!
